I’m sure I shall keep getting back to this book.

This book holds the sun in its pages everyone who opens it gets carried in its pure bright light. My review of itīy the time I reached the second letter, I wanted to highlight passage after passage, or at least add them to my favourite quotes on Goodreads to preserve their impact forever. His ideas on themes like anxiety, solitude and empathy are deeply similar to our very own day and age as well. Though these letters revolve around the writing craft, Rilke gives us insights into his general worldview and way of life. Rilke focuses over and over on the importance of solitude and looking inward for inspiration instead of clinging to the outside world for criticism.

Rilke’s responses to the young poet, who is plagued by doubt and skepticism, consist of long in-depth advice on poetry, life, art, and the courage to follow one’s creative career. Kappus first wrote to Rilke asking if his poems were any good. This short book is a collection of ten letters written by Rainer Maria Rilke to a young poet Franz Kappus.
